Shoal Creek Color

Drought and flowers are polar opposites. Only the most bullet-proof wildflowers have continued to bloom this summer. However, many of these are spectacular, bringing a dab of color to an otherwise lifeless and colorless landscape. The following photos are of a few, both native and exotic, that I photographed over the past few months.

Oak galls

Lantana

Red Buckeye

Sunflower with honey bee and fly

Magnolia with green anole

Passionflower

Pride of Barbados

Esperanza

Trumpet Creeper

Clematis

Bee Balm

Cenizo

Morning Glory

Silverleaf Nightshade

Duckweed

Greenbriar

Violet Ruellia

Desert Willow (Chelopsis)

  1. Ted, these are gorgeous images. I’ve a few rain lilies in my herb garden that surprise me after a good rain. The mass of rain lilies all along Shoal Creek after last weekend’s rain are amazing. I’ve never seen such a profusion. Thanks for sharing your images.
